Treviso and “Marca Trevigiana”

Treviso is a city built in 1300 AD, described by Dante Alighieri in his Comedy, with many canals. In the central Piazza dei Signori, the Palazzo dei Trecento, with merlons and vaulted colonnades, stands. The Fontana delle Tette is a 16th century fountain used to distribute wine to the people. Nearby, the Duomo has a neoclassical façade, a Romanesque crypt and a painting by Titian. The Santa Caterina Complex, the main site of the Civic Museums, has medieval frescoes. In the new Bailo Museum, reopened a few years ago, there are famous works of modern art.
